Project
Los Frijoles Village
Water Systems
Los Frijoles is an approximately 640-acre mixed use residential and light commercial development northwest of the City of Santa Fe. Full planned build-out consists of an equivalent of 800 residential dwelling units or 140,000 gpd. Southwest Wetlands (the precursor to NSI) was retained by the Owner of the Project to provide the development engineer, Louis Berger and Associates, with engineering services as they related to the lift station and force main design. Tasks included conferring with City and County regarding special requirements and ties to existing sewer lines; calculations for a hydraulic analysis and preparation of a report addressing required pumping and transmission design. SWG prepared detailed drawings for construction of the lift stations; an engineer’s opinion of probable construction costs and consulted with the electrical engineer concerning emergency generator size and costs.
SITE CONDITIONS - Because of site layout and topography, there is a portion of the Village which required a separate, smaller lift station. This Station will discharge into the Village gravity collection lines and all wastewater will flow to the Main Lift Station for pumping offsite to the City collection system approximately 1.5 miles away. Various alignments for the force main were also analyzed for this project.
DESIGN OBJECTIVES - Design features for this project include air and vacuum relief valves on the force main, emergency power generators, control buildings, magnetic induction flow meters, and onsite alarm and operating condition monitor accessible by telephone dialing from the City’s Wastewater Treatment Plant.
- Southwest Wetlands Group completed the tasks on-schedule and to the satisfaction of the City and County of Santa Fe. The design results are as follows:
- Lift Station 1 - a duplex station with 30hp, 460 vac, 3 phase, 1740 rpm submersible pumps rated at 300 gpm and 136 ft TDH.
- Lift Station 2 - a duplex station with 7.5hp, 460 vac, 3 phase, 1740 rpm submersible pumps rated at 75 gpm and 61 ft TDH.
- Force Main - an 8-inch line with 2, 2-inch and 4 1-inch combination valves.
