Stormwater Storage and Reuse

Santa Fe Greenhouses is a commercial nursery operation in Santa Fe, NM. Since water is an expensive necessity for nursery operations, a rainwater harvesting system was an obvious addition. As land is at a premium in an urban environment, above ground cisterns were not acceptable.

Using a greenhouse roof collection system, and an underground cistern (Invisible Structures Rainstor), NSI engineered a rainwater reuse system that provided rainwater for the spray irrigation system in the greenhouses. Use of the Invisible Structure system allowed the client to store nursery stock on top of the cistern.

Site run-off from parking lots and roads was managed through sedimentation and detention pond incorporating native plants. Rather than an eyesore, the pond became part of the demonstration gardens.
