The 80 unit hotel was built near an interstate interchange and required an on-site treatment system. The goal for this on-site system was to design a system that was inexpensive to build and operate and that would meet the water quality regulations for the ISDH. Pretreatment with septic tanks, a subsurface flow wetlands with land application meet all of the operational conditions.

The system operates without any maintenance except for checking the septic tanks. Tanks are pumped every 6 months to a year. As the illustration indicates the design also meets the requirements for construction simplicity. With the exception of the pumps which are required to pressure dose the subsurface disposal field, there are no moving parts.
